Somewhere, there is a defining line between the energies of sight and sound, we often see these things as 2 separate entities; in reality they are much closer than we assume. Artists might have the best understanding of this energy “limbo”, using colors to describe sound, taste to describe artwork, and emotions to describe rhythm.

“FRESH BEAT VOL.1” call for submissions!!!
ATTN: Producers/Artists/Bloggers
I am planning our next sampler, this one is going to be another special situation…. It will be featuring and focused on young new producers who are trying to get their name out. “FRESH BEAT VOL.1” will hopefully contain some of the freshest new talent poking around in 2013.
There will be extensive digging and approval related to this release, but I am encouraging everyone to spread the word. This is an opportunity for the new guy, the person who doesn’t have more than one beat tape on their bandcamp, or no website at all! This is for the guys who are just finding their feet in our deep pool called music life.
I get countless submissions from artists and producers that I feel are not of a quality to release properly, but are so full of promise and room for growth; this release is a way to reach out and encourage these individuals to continue at their craft, and to serve as a reminder that this industry is NOT exclusive or shut it. The beauty of what we do is ANYONE CAN DO IT.
I encourage all producers to put me in touch with any friends they have who might be just starting out, or any sounds you may have heard recently on soundcloud. This also applies to new alias’s used by artists.

Well here we are again; we find ourselves in a dark, dank, throbbing room with flashing lights and potent sweat…. No, we’re not talking homegrown UFC, we’re talking about some fresh new TERRORBALL. For his 4th GFR release (among many other releases!) TB takes us by the hips and forces us into dancing submission via his 4-to-the-floor concoctions. Weaving thru layers of lush synths, pounding drums, and ever-so-slightly campy samples, “You Punks” is a carefully crafted piece of bump that deserves a place in your harddrive and your cars stereo!released 18 September 2012

2 years ago, we released “Grappapproved Sampler No.1” (GFR010). Just months into the life of the label, we built a nice boiled down representation of our style and sound. Today we are the same label, though things may change as the months pass; We feel this is an accurate portrayal of our vision thus far, as well as our goals for the future. In the spirit of this, the compilation is available both for free digitally as well as via Limited Edition Cassette Tape.

I haven’t really seen anything to sum up the whole movement (even my ‘Beat Generation’ label isn’t a term that’s widely used), so when I got a chance to do it in an academic setting, why not?
